SubRoll is a live-action Jiu-Jitsu game that adds unpredictability, creativity, and fun to your time on the mats. Whether you’re a seasoned black belt or a day-one white belt, SubRoll gives you a new way to roll—structured, spontaneous, and always entertaining.

This isn’t a board game. It’s a new way to train.

🎲 What Is SubRoll?

SubRoll is a fast-paced submission challenge game designed to be played during live rolling. Instead of starting from random positions and free sparring, you and your partner roll dice to determine the submission goal, the position to start from, and who attacks or defends.

Perfect for:

Open mats and drilling sessions
Breaking routines and exploring new paths
Teaching positional awareness and submission setups
Just having a good time on the mats

🕹️ How to Play

You’ll need 4 dice:

2x Submission Dice (White): Each player rolls one to get their submission objective (RNC, Armbar, Triangle, Kimura, Guillotine, or Darce).
1x Position Die (Gray): One roll sets the starting position for both players (Full Guard, Half Guard, Side Control, Mount, Back, or Turtle).
1x Number Die (Black): Both players roll—highest number chooses attacker or defender.

🔁 Gameplay Flow

Roll Submission Dice – Each player rolls their own white die to get their submission goal. (Show the other player, or don't - up to you!)
Roll Position Die – One roll determines the starting position for both players.
Roll Number Die – Both players roll; the higher number chooses where they start in the position
Start the Round – Begin in the position rolled. The attacker must actively work toward their assigned submission. The defender works to escape and get to their assigned submission.
Reset and Roll Again – Play best-of-3, or just keep it going for fun.

💥 Tie on Number Die?
Use a scramble, Rock-Paper-Scissors, or your own house rule to settle it. You can even play a quick game of takedown wins chooses the positon!
